The Boston Terrier is the official state dog of Massachusetts, but these dogs are loved all over the world for their affectionate, gentle nature.

- Does not respond well to a harsh tone
- Can be difficult to housetrain
Exercise
- Needs regular walks, but does not like long walks

Coat
- Short, smooth and shiny
- Black and white is the most common; may also be brindle and black or brindle and white
- Brush with a firm-bristle brush
- Average shedder
Care
- Avoid overheating when exercising
- Take care they don’t injure their protruding eyes
- Wipe eyes with a cloth daily
- Clean ears regularly and check for foreign bodies
Health
- Common health problems include breathing difficulties, birthing difficulties, skin tumors, eye injuries and cherry eye
