From Pawties to Doga: Fun Activities at Chewsy Dog
Before we learned about Chewsy Dog, we had never heard of “Doga”—the dog friendly version of yoga—and now we are just itching to try it out with our own doggie friends.
Doga is just one of the many unique services provided by Chewsy Dog, which has recently expanded its business into grooming, training, canine massages, photography, videography, and even anesthesia-free dental exams.
Chewsy Dog is a little boutique in Long Beach, California which specializes in the “accessories and necessities for your dear dog.” This means that whether you want to spoil your pup, or simply provide him with the best necessities possible, you can find some reason to stop by and pay them a visit.
Because we were so intrigued, Chewsy Dog Owner and Manager Eva Kuncewicki explained to us a little more about Chewsy Dog’s Doga sessions, which were recently featured in Long Beach Magazine. Eva told us that the sessions take place every Saturday morning at 10:00am (before the boutique opens, so as not to disturb the students) and are lead by seasoned Bikram Yoga Instructor Elizabeth Keegan-Phillips. “The first class is challenging. You definitely need to keep the dog on a leash.” Eva also said that the dogs are a little confused at first, “You can see them thinking, ‘What am I doing?’” But then Eva added, “The second session is much smoother. And the parents get such a workout. They come in thinking ‘It’s going to be so cute! My dog is going to have so much fun!’ But both the parents and the dogs leave feeling exhausted.” Who doesn’t love a doggie friendly workout?
If you are as excited as we are in discovering this pet friendly business, come to Chewsy Dog’s ”Dog-Gone Good Open House” event this Wednesday, August 12, 2009. At the event will be Chewsy Dog’s Trainer, Andrew Ledford, who is also author of the dog-training book Best Friends Learning Together.
Also attending the event will be Multi-Denominational Healer, Ayanamatara, who be discussing some highlights of her upcoming Animal Communication Lecture and Presentation. This lecture will take place at Chewsy Dog on August 22, 2009.
Chewsy Dog’s “Dog-Gone Good Open House” will also feature pet adoptions from the Long Beach Animal Shelter, where Eva likes to volunteer in her spare time. And even if you don’t walk away with a new furry friend, you might win something almost as awesome from the evening’s raffles and giveaways. So if you’re going to be nearby this Wednesday, you should definitely swing by Long Beach with your canine companion and grab a few refreshments at this doggie friendly evening. Find more information on Chewsy Dog’s Open House right here.
If you can’t make it to tomorrow’s festivities but live near the area, you should still consider dropping by Chewsy Dog. They offer the site as a dog friendly venue for theme “pawties,” holiday celebrations, and any other doggie friendly event you can think of.
