Green-Eyed Shay: A Pretty, Petite Pooch (Adopt-A-Dog Day 18)

Everyone who’s had the pleasure of meeting Shay goes gaga over the green-eyed beauty.

The petite, almost 2-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier is i Love Dogs’ 18th featured pooch in our campaign to find furever homes for 31 dogs during Adopt-A-Dog Month.

shay-adoptable-dog-2 This pretty pup is way into cuddling, chasing tennis balls and pouncing on her furry toys. Shay needs a leader with whom she’ll become very connected…she is a great listener and hates being scolded!

Shay’s Ruff Rescue: Shay was found running the streets by Rande, a Karma Rescue volunteer. Krista, another Karma Rescue volunteer, fell in love with Shay’s beauty and became her foster mom.

Favorite Toy: Shay loves tennis balls, but she’s only interested in the one in your hand – not the ones already on the ground! At the tennis court she chases ball after ball after ball. She also likes to pounce on her furry toys.

Best Buddies: Shay is very attached to foster mom Krista. She tends to get attached to one person, and then that person becomes her world. Shay also loves her foster dog sister Skylar (the pitbull princess who, you might recall, was our first featured pooch for Adopt-A-Dog month). The silly pups like to each grab onto an end of a toy and then run around the house with it!

Silliest Pup Moves: There are so many, it’s hard to choose the funniest one. When Shay wants to cuddle (which is a lot), she keeps trying to get closer and closer to her human pal. “Sometimes she ends up sitting on me, with her nose against mine,” Krista says. In the morning, Shay likes to lie on her back, fling her feet in the air, and make funny noises. And when Krista puts on her walking shoes, Shay gets all excited and keeps running back and forth from Krista to her leash!

Sweetest Pup Moments: Shay would make an excellent therapy dog since she is so attuned to people’s feelings. When she senses that someone is sad or mad, she’ll sit down next to them and give them a gentle kiss every few minutes.

Puparrazi Buzz: “She is always getting comments about how beautiful she is,” says Krista. “My boyfriend is gaga over her – ‘She is sooo pretty,’ he says.”

Pawfect Furever Home: Shay would do best in a home with people who have some experience with this breed. She loves kids and getting silly with them. She would do well with another dog-friendly pooch.
