Rumpus the Great Dane Passes Away

Famed pop singer Lady Gaga will sadly be without her best dog actor for her music video “Bad Romance.” On October 21, Rumpus the harlequin Great Dane passed away while on a hike in Los Angeles.

This five-year-old champion was a majestic dog and, along with his mother Lava, was an iconic image in several of Lady Gaga’s music videos, including “Poker Face,” “Love Game,” and “Paparazzi.”

Rumpus’ owner, Suzzane Kelleher-Duckett, runs Pacific Coast Harlequins (PCH) and is the owner of several generations of harlequins including Rumpus’ grandmother Penelope. She told TMZ that Rumpus was in great health and there were no signs of injury.

The cause of his death has not yet been determined, but Rumpus was sent in for an autopsy and results are expected soon.

A Great Dane’s lifespan is anywhere between 8-10 years on average and it can rarely reach the age of 13.

On Kelleher-Duckett’s website it was obvious that Rumpus had a family of wonderful humans giving him lots of love and care, including his little girl Delaney (Kelleher-Duckett’s daughter). The loss of a pet is never easy, let alone for a child with a best friend like Rumpus. He’ll obviously be incredibly missed.

This famous Dane also appeared in commercials for Cesar Canine Cuisine and recently sired a litter of five puppies with PCH Harlequin Gracie.
