SkyBark Celebrates 134th Annual Westminster Dog Show

This evening, i Love Dogs Diamonds’Amour, Amour,” a $3.2 million dog collar dubbed “the Bugatti of dog collars” by Forbes Senior Editor Matt Miller, will hit the runway for its pooch debut at the 2nd Annual PETaPOTTY Westminster Experience.

Hosted by SkyBark at the Hotel Pennsylvania in New York City, this event is one of the many activities taking place leading up to the Westminster Kennel Club’s (WKC) 134th Annual Dog Show. The event will boast some of the hottest K9s around. Celebrity pups and their famous, or not-so-famous, pet parents will walk the red carpet at SkyBark’s Red Carpet Kickoff Party (though some of the pupsters may need a green carpet for potty breaks). Past celebrities in attendance include Dr. Ruth and Matt Wayne (celebrity magician).

“Skybark will transform Hotel Pennsylvania’s top ballrooms into the ‘place to be’ for anyone looking to bring their pets, cut loose and have a great time before the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show commences,” SkyBark wrote on their Facebook fan page.

At the event, Rick Caran and his Yorkshire Terrier Jilli Dog, touted as “one of America’s top trick dogs,” will wow audiences with their pawsome tricks. They will be followed by an auction, BarkBar Invitational Vendor Expo, drinks, and the fabulous fashion show that will feature the “Amour, Amour.” The collar will be worn by a dog model being walked down the dogwalk by human model Beth Stern (wife of radio personality Howard Stern). Following the fashion show, i Love Dogs General Manager Martha Smith will be carrying a very special dog model, Jimmy, a black short-haired Chihuahua who is up for adoption through Sue Sternberg’s Animals for Adoption. He will be wearing i Love Dogs Diamonds’ La Jeune Tulipe.

The event will also honor some of the pet community’s best with their annual Golden Paw Awards by giving out such honorable awards as the 2010 Humanitarian Award, 2010 Pet Expert, 2010 Pet Event of the Year, and more.

Of course, those in attendance will receive goodie bags, and those lucky dogs will also be happy to find some i Love Dogs swag in their doggie bags!

The pet-friendliness will continue through the WKC’s Dog Show taking place February 15-16 (Monday and Tuesday of next week) at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Thousands will be in attendance, while 2,500 dogs will compete in conformation, including i Love Dogs ambassador Jo Ann Ybaben with Papillon Dash.

The 2,500 dogs in attendance will all be vying for the same top dog spot, “Best in Show.” Last year, that coveted spot was taken by Stump, the Sussex Spaniel.

For the 27th consecutive year, USA Network and CNBC will air exclusive coverage of the WKC Dog Show.
