Cetyl M Supplements Recalled

Response Products, a vitamin and supplement manufacturer based in Broken Bow, Neb., is recalling Cetyl M Joint Action Formula for Dogs with lot numbers 1210903 and 0128010. The dietary supplements formulated to help improve dogs’ joints might be tainted with salmonella. The company distributed Cetyl M through direct sales, stores, veterinarians, and online retailers.

The company shipped 120-count bottles between January 8  and April 2 and 360-count bottles between February 11 and April 2, reports TambaBay.com.

Salmonella is bacteria that can infect people and animals, causing illnesses and even fatalities. People who come in contact with salmonella should wash their hands immediately to avoid infection. Currently, Response has not received any complaints about its products, Consumer Affairs reports.

Over the last 10 years, pet parents have become increasingly aware of dogs’ health and wellness, resulting in a dietary supplement boom. Glucosamine and condroitin formulas, which help relieve joint and arthritic discomfort, have been especially popular. The industry, however, remains unregulated so safety precautions are left up to individual companies.

Premium supplement manufacturer i Love Dogs offers several vitamin formulas, including Glucosamine and Condroitin with Green Tea. To ensure safety, i Love Dogs vitamins are produced at an FDA-regulated facility in the United States. All ingredients are tested and submitted to extensive quality-control procedures prior to manufacturing.
