Surf Dog Ricochet and i Love Dogs Team Up for a Contest!

Say “cheese!” Or is that “Paw-abunga”? Surf Dog Ricochet and i Love Dogs are teaming up to raise money and awareness for arthritis, and we want your pooches to join in the fun.

Our paw pal Ricochet has put her surfing skills to good use by raising money and awareness for some very good causes over the years. Now, she’s at it again and this time she’s looking to wipe out arthritis. After watching her mom, who has arthritis, feel ouchie from the disease, Ricochet realized that she was in the perfect position to raise awareness to help both humans and dogs.

Ricochet and i Love Dogs are partnering for a bodacious photo contest that will ring in the summertime—that time of year when people and dogs are at their most active! Ricochet and her mom will be walking in the Arthritis Foundation’s 2010 Arthritis Walk in San Diego. All the money raised will go directly to the Arthritis Foundation.

As you probably know, arthritis isn’t just a human ailment. Many of our canine buddies also live with the disease. Ricochet and i Love Dogs dream of a world in which arthritis is wiped out forever in dogs and humans everywhere. In honor of Ricochet’s participation in the Arthritis Walk, we’re proud to support her latest endeavor by co-hosting a super cool photo contest!

To promote arthritis awareness, we’re focusing on fun, exercise, and health! We’re not only promoting the contest. In addition to giving away a rad gift basket, we’re serious about spreading the word about arthritis awareness and the importance of fitness. After the contest winner is announced, Ricochet will dually announce a deserving San Diego-area pooch who will receive three free sessions with Leash Your Fitness, an organization that holds bootcamp-style classes for dogs and their parents that combine cardio, yoga, agility and obedience training. Leash Your Fitness is also supporting the Arthritis Walk and even holding classes to train for the special event.

About the Contest: Pet parents are invited to send in photos of their beloved canine pals wearing their best surfing and beach-inspired outfits—because our girl Ric is known for life on the sand and in the water! From Hawaiian shirts to leis to doggie wetsuits, life’s a beach and we want to celebrate every vibrant moment of it.

Pet Parents: Send in photos of your dogs wearing clothing and/or accessories for the beach and surfing. Beach-style backgrounds and scenarios are encouraged, but not mandatory. Dogs can actually be wearing the clothing or can be Photoshopped wearing the outfits. That’s because we want as many dogs to participate as possible—and that includes ones who don’t live near the beach. Be creative!

Rules: Submitted photos will be placed on both the i Love Dogs and Surfdog Ricochet Facebook pages. Voters will select the top entries by clicking the “Like” button at the bottom of each photo. The top 10 photos will be submitted to our judges.

CONTEST GUIDELINES
The i Love Dogs photo contest will run from May 12 – June 11, 2010. We invite contestants to submit one photo before 11:59 p.m. PST, on June 11, 2010 (photos received after this time will not be eligible for judging). All photos will be subject to public vote. Public vote will close June 18, 2010 at 11:59 p.m. PST. The top 10 photos will be submitted to our judges, who will choose the grand prize, second place and third place winners.

Contest launch date: Wednesday May 12, 2010 – 12:01 a.m. PST

Contest photo submission deadline: Friday, June 11 – 11:59 p.m. PST

Contest closes to the public: Friday, June 18 — 11:59 p.m. PST

Eligibility: Must be 18 years or older to submit a photo. All photos must include surfing or beach motifs to be eligible.

Grand Prize: A 60-day supply of i Love Dogs Glucosamine & Chondroitin with Green Tea. We’ll also include some water toys from Body Glove’s pawsome new dog line and some other stuff, like a Frisbee and i Love Dogs leash that promote movin’ around!

Winners will be announced on July 2, 2010. Winner should expect his or her prize 2-3 weeks following the announcement.
