Martha Stewart Gets a Love Bonk
Martha Stewart is known for her love of dogs and impeccable sense of style, but her two loves came crashing together Tuesday night while on her way out.
According to the Martha Blog, “As I leaned down to whisper goodbye to a dozing Francesca, I must have startled her, because she bolted upright with such force that she hit me in the face like a boxing glove hitting an opponent’s face,” Stewart wrote. “I was entirely startled and my neck snapped back. I felt a bit of whiplash as blood gushed forth from my split lip. Frannie was as upset as I was and cowered in her bed.”
Stewart has two French Bulldogs, Francesca and Sharkey, who have their own blog called The Daily Wag, the Adventures of Francesca and Sharkey.
After the accidental bonk, Stewart checked herself out in the mirror and realized that she would need to head to the emergency room. Her driver and stable manager drove her a few miles through the snow to the emergency room at Northern Westchester Hospital in Mount Kisco, N.Y.
Due to the severity of the cut on her lip, she had to wait for the plastic surgeon on call to drive up from his home in nearby Pound Ridge. Dr. William Nolan finally arrived and, after examining her injury, began injecting her with lots of anesthetic.
In true Martha fashion, in her blog she interrupted her collage of gruesome photos of her injury to include a photo of the outdated décor of the hospital room.
“The ceiling border in the little patient room could use some updating, don’t you think?” Stewart commented.
After several stitches and three sutures in her lip, she was released an hour later and given instructions for care: Take antibiotics, use cold presses and return for a checkup on Friday. She wrote that she enjoyed a beautiful snowy drive home to finally get some rest.
Meanwhile, Francesca and Sharkey had their own adventures at home investigating an intruder in their toy box: Bartok the cat.
