Sweet-Natured Golden Needs a Furever Family
Let me introduce you to Annie. Annie is a 6-year-old Golden Retriever currently living in Golden, Colo. She is a purebreed with a beautiful red coat and is large in size. Like most Goldens, she is good with kids, gentle and loving. A true companion dog, she needs a home to share with other like-minded, gentle souls.
I chose to feature Annie for this week’s i Love Dogs Rescue Network for a couple of reasons: she’s a senior dog and has a serious condition, making it harder for her to get adopted. I adopted a senior dog with a dislocated right shoulder that had been left untreated for so long that her muscles had atrophied. Luckily, I did not have to pay for her shoulder surgery, but I did have to spend the next few months teaching her how to walk again. If I hadn’t committed to adopting her, she would have been euthanized. I do not want to see the same fate for Annie.
Annie is a special needs dog. You see, Annie has Cushing’s disease, a condition that affects the adrenal glands. She is on medication, gets her blood tested regularly and has a special diet. She is doing very well, but the extra care she requires will cost $200-$300 a month. If you’ve got the money and the time, the love you get from a dog like Annie will pay you back ten-fold.
Annie is well-mannered and easy to live with, despite her condition. She loves to be brushed, petted and to have her back massaged. Annie is house-trained, and knows her basic commands. In fact, just the sound of you opening the treat box will put her into a patient “sit.” Won’t you please give this special girl a furever home?
