Five spcaLA Dogs Looking for Forever Homes

Every Friday, i Love Dogs spotlights a homeless pooch as part of our i Love Dogs Rescue Network effort to find them furever homes. This week we are featuring five sweet dogs I met and video recorded at the spcaLA’s P.D. Pitchford Companion Animal Village & Education Center in Long Beach, Calif.

Click each pooch’s name to see him or her in action!

This 2-year-old wire-haired Dachshund mix has been at the shelter since last June. She loves walks, treats and belly rubs. Blondie would do best in a home with older children and no other dogs. She knows the “Sit” command, but will need to brush up on house- and crate-training. Blondie is a very happy girl. With some time and patience, this little bundle of energy will make a great companion.

Angel is a medium-sized Australian Shepherd mix. She is a senior dog, but don’t tell her that. This 8-year-old energetic beauty knows her basic commands, such as Sit and Down, is housebroken and walks very well on leash. Angel would make a great first dog as she is easy to handle, gets along with other dogs and is not much of a barker. The spcaLA is not sure how she would get along with cats, so a test is strongly advised.

Neptune is a blue merle Pit Bull mix. This gorgeous boy is 3 years old and strong as an ox. Neptune knows “Sit” and loves toys. He will need lots of exercise and obedience training – only experienced dog owners should consider adopting him. However, once this playful fellow gets some good playtime, he is a very sweet and loving boy.

Blink and Havasu

These two red-and-yellow purebred Labrador Retrievers were victims of divorce. They are between 10 and 11 years old, and very close. The spcaLA would like to see them get adopted together as Blink is very loyal to Havasu. He watches over her and accompanies Havasu everywhere she goes. They simply adore each other and most likely have bonded even more due to their unfortunate circumstance. These amazing dogs know their basic commands. They walk great on leash, they are friendly, active and despite their age and size, are in very good health.
