Pawnouncing the Winners of the i Love Labs Photo Contest!

Thanks to everyone who entered pictures of their lovely Labs in our i Love Labs photo contest last month.

Like the others before her, contest judge Elisa Jordan, managing editor of Veterinary Practice News, said her task was a daunting challenge.

“This was seriously impossible,” she said. “I loved them all.”

Although she would have much preferred to give an award to every entrant, here are Jordan’s picks for 1st and 2nd place.

1st Place: Hershey

“Hershey exemplifies all the things that Lab fans love,” Jordan said of this 5-year-old chocolate Lab-Coonhound mix.

“Expressive eyes with a hint of mischief, a happy overall expression that’s just a smidge goofy and the tendency to ‘get into’ stuff. (Note that she’s licking a log! Why?!)”

Jeff and Marisa, Hershey’s pet parents, say their pooch “loves to go outside and play fetch with a big stick. When we’re not throwing the stick to play fetch she is dragging it around the sand box, burying it and then digging it up so she can bury it again. She loves to go for long walks and LOVES to swim.”

2nd Place: Ben

“Those eyes! I can’t stop staring at them,” Jordan said.

Ben, a 4-year-old Lab-Husky mix, was adopted about a year ago. “When I received an email asking if someone could foster this guy, the instant I saw the picture I knew he was my sort of dog,” said his dog mom, Holly.

“He was my first foster dog, and my daughter and I loved him so much, we decided to adopt him.”

Ben likes to be used as a “pillow, foot warmer, stuffed animal, body pillow or blanket,” Holly said. She added that he’s a clown who constantly makes her and her daughter giggle.

“Too adorable. Pure Lab,” Jordan said.

Honorable Mention: Reba

Based on your “Likes” in our i Love Labs Facebook photo album, the winner of an honorable mention prize for the fan favorite is Reba.

If the 4-year-old Lab could talk, her pet parent Lynn thinks she’d say, “Come on, come on, come on, let’s play, play, play – hurry, hurry, go, go, go!”

Lynn said the very sweet pooch loves everyone.

Hershey and Ben will each receive i Love Dogs Reishi with Green Tea plus a coupon good for a 50-percent discount on their pet parents’ next purchase of i Love Dogs vitamins and supplements. Reba will receive an i Love Dogs bag filled with goodies.

Much appreciation to our contest judge, Elisa Jordan. Along with her duties at Veterinary Practice News, the former social media writer for i Love Dogs volunteers her time at the Shambala Preserve, a sanctuary for big cats.

Jordan grew up with Labs, and she thinks the breed is super cool. “I’d love to adopt another one, especially after this contest!” she said.
