20 Dogs Featured in the i Love Dogs Rescue Network Have Been Adopted

October is Adopt-a-Shelter-Dog month.

According to the ASPCA, there are a staggering 5 to 7 million companion animals in shelters waiting to be adopted. An estimated 60 percent of that number is dogs, with another 3 to 4 million being euthanized – that’s five out of 10 dogs that are destroyed simply because they cannot find furever homes.

i Love Dogs, Inc. has created the i Love Dogs Rescue Network to try to help reduce these numbers. The network was introduced in October 2009. Every Monday, we post a profile of an adoptable dog and ask our readers to help us spread the word that he or she is available.

In honor of Adopt-a-Shelter Dog Month, we put together a slideshow of all the dogs that have been adopted so far this year. Of the 48 dogs we’ve featured, 20 dogs have found their furever homes. While we are certainly pleased with that number, we will continue to feature dogs each Monday in our ongoing effort to get these dogs out of the shelters and into good and loving homes.

Want to join the i Love Dogs Rescue Network? It’s easy – all you need to do is help us get the word out about our featured dogs. Post links to our stories on Twitter and Facebook, email links to your friends and family – whatever it takes!
