Lucky Laredo, a Former Bait Dog, is Looking for His Furever Home

Laredo

Allow me to introduce Laredo, a 3-year-old deaf Boxer. Laredo’s story starts off in a real bad way. You see, he was used as a bait dog by a Pit Bull dog-fighting ring. And if that was not bad enough, which it is, Laredo’s teeth were filed down so that he would be unable to defend himself from attacks.

Luckily this sweet boy was rescued by the Great Dane Rescue in El Paso, Texas. When they brought him in, he was filthy and had a severe ear infection. After several baths and some meds, Laredo is a healthy boy. And despite being abused for most of his short life, Laredo shows no signs of animosity towards humans or canines, and in fact is described as being very silly and playful, with an expressive face.

Every Monday, i Love Dogs spotlights a homeless dog as part of our i Love Dogs Rescue Network effort to find furever homes for these pooches. I chose Laredo because he was used and abused as a bait dog, discarded and then rescued by a wonderful organization that recognized what an amazing dog he is. Plus, he’s deaf and dogs with health issues often have a harder time finding furever homes.

The Great Dane Rescue of El Paso is a volunteer-run, non-profit organization existing solely  on private donations, fundraisers and adoption fees. Their mission is to provide medical care, love, training and furever homes to dogs that have been abandoned, abused, neglected and/or owner surrendered.
