Bring this Delightful Doberman Home for the Holidays

Kessia

Allow me to introduce Kessia, a 5-year-old Doberman from Trujillo, Peru. Kessia is a very lucky girl. Living in a shelter in Peru with 40 other dogs and a bad leg, she caught an extraordinary break.

Kessia used to have a job as guard dog for a shop in Trujillo. One night, some burglars attempted to rob the shop and Kessia was struck with a metal pipe, breaking her right leg. Her leg was fixed at a local shelter but broke again a few weeks later because it was not fixed properly the first time. Due to a serious lack of funding, the shelter was left with no other option but to let it heal on its own.

Kessia caught the attention of a volunteer, and after months of hard work and sorting through what seemed like an endless amount of red tape, Kessia landed in the United States to begin her new life, starting with the removal of her leg.

Kessia’s foster mom says she is doing great and is a very happy girl who gets along just fine, thank you very much.

Every Monday, i Love Dogs spotlights a homeless dog as part of our i Love Dogs Rescue Network effort to find furever homes for these pooches.

I chose Kessia because she is a special-needs girl, and it is very hard for dogs with special needs to find furever homes; and because Kessia comes from the Illinois Doberman Rescue Plus organization, the same rescue that was helping Kane, a Doberman we had featured in our Rescue Network, who sadly passed to the Rainbow Bridge earlier this year.

Please help the i Love Dogs Rescue Network and the Illinois Doberman Rescue Plus spread the word that Kessia needs a loving furever home.

The 4 (Paws)-1-1:

  • Name: Kessia
  • Breed: Doberman
  • Weight: 60 pounds
  • Kids: Good with kids
  • Cats: Good with cats
  • Age: 5 years old
  • Personality: Kessia’s right leg has been amputated, but she is sweet, well-behaved and happy. Kessia is housetrained and spayed.
  • Contact: If you are interested in adopting Kessia, fill out an adoption application from the Illinois Doberman Rescue Plus.

If you or someone in your social network becomes a hero by adopting one of our featured dogs, not only will you get a best friend for life, but if you mention that you saw the dog on our website, i Love Dogs will send you a pooch starter kit, including toys, vitamin samples and other goodies!
