HOLLYWOOF REPORTER: Uggie from ‘The Artist,’ Blackie from ‘Hugo,’ Bo Obama and More!

This week’s Hollywoof Reporter has the pooch scoop on these dog celebrities and celebrities’ dogs:

Uggie from ‘The Artist’ and Blackie from ‘Hugo’ Nominated for Golden Collar Awards

dobermanDirector Martin Scorsese recently lead his pack of fans and followers into securing a write-in Golden Collar Award nomination for Blackie, the Doberman in Scorsese’s Oscar-nominated film, “Hugo.”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Scorsese expressed his disappointment in Blackie’s Golden Collar snub in an opinion piece in the Los Angeles Times, saying,Uggie plays a nice little mascot who does tricks and saves his master’s life in one of the films, while Blackie gives an uncompromising performance.”

Uggie, as you all recall, is the adorable Jack Russell Terrier who steals the spotlight in the silent film, “The Artist.”

Scorsese told readers to support Blackie by sending in write-in ballots. Earlier this week, the Hollywood Reporter revealed that Blackie received the necessary 500 votes, so the Dobie is now included on the list of Golden Collar Award nominees.

Meanwhile, Uggie has been making some news of his own on the Hollywood scene.  It was announced he’s retiring from feature films this year, but not before appearing in an Oscar skit with host Billy Crystal. Maybe Uggie will get to shine on Oscar night after all!

Bo Obama Rides in Style

Bo ObamaMitt Romney was recently in the dog house after it was revealed that he put his dog, Seamus, on the roof of his car for a 12-hour road trip back in 1983.

Luckily for first dog Bo Obama, his dog dad knows that pooches should ride inside the car.

According to PEOPLEPets.com, the famous Portuguese Water Dog and President Obama left the White House for a ride to PetSmart in December, enjoying the view from the presidential motorcade on their way from Washington, D.C., to Alexandria, Va.

This photo was posted this week on Twitter by former Obama strategist David Axelrod, with the tagline, “How loving owners transport their dogs.” Pawsome response to how poor Seamus was treated!

Maya Rudolph’s Odd Relationship to Dog Who Discovered Severed Head

Golden RetrieverYou might think comedian Maya Rudolph’s just joking about knowing Ollie, the Golden Retriever who discovered some rather gruesome evidence in the Hollywood Hills recently, but this was no joke.

According to PEOPLEPets.com, Rudolph revealed to talk show host Conan O’Brien that Ollie belongs to a friend of hers who has been going through a “really bizarre, horrific ordeal” since the incident.

“He likes balls – soccer balls.” Rudolph said of Ollie. “I think he’s a digger. He was digging, and he came out all proud with this bag, and something fell out, and it was the head.”

The pup then had to ride in a squad car to the police station, where he stayed for four hours. (But hey, what dog doesn’t love car rides?) According to Rudolph, Ollie has since been nominated for an ASPCA award for his actions.

You can fetch the full interview on Conan’s website.

Drew Barrymore Adopts a Furbaby!

puppyWhile it might’ve looked like Drew Barrymore was sporting a huge baby bump, some telltale paws peeking out from her shirt clued us into it being a puppy!

According to the Daily Mail, the 36-year-old actress and her fiancé, Will Kopelman, were spotted leaving Bark n’ Bitches in Hollywood with a new pet puppy under Barrymore’s top. Barrymore, who has been married twice before, announced her engagement to Kopelman earlier this month.

Paws up to her for adopting a dog! We love it when Hollywood gets it right.
