Everyone knows that the AKC is a big deal, which is why we are super excited and very proud to pawnouce that i Love Dogs ambassadors, Deborah Davidson Harpur and Magi, a Border Collie-Golden Retriever mix, were featured in the AKC Canine Partners News.
Besides being an i Love Dogs ambassador, Magi is a canine ambassador for Active Care Dog Food by Breeder’s Choice, and he has appeared in commercials, TV shows and movies.
“Magi even has his own doggie trading cards,” Harpur told AKC Canine Partners News.
Magi made the first appearance by a mixed breed at an AKC national event after the organization started allowing them to participate in 2010. He served as a demonstration dog at the 2010 AKC Agility Invitational in Long Beach, Calif., running the finals course just before the actual finals competition started.
“He loves anything about agility. Carla [Carla Williams, Magi’s dog mom] can say ‘weave, weave, weave’ to him in his sleep, and his feet will start running,” Harpur said. “Or if she says, ‘Do you want to go with Deborah to the agility trial?’ he will go nuts and run around the house looking for me.”
Magi wasn’t always such a popular and well-behaved pooch. When he was a puppy, he chewed his way through a wall and a water pipe, causing $15,000 in damage and repairs to Williams’ home. That’s when Williams called Harpur to help her with her out-of-control dog – and the rest, as they say, is history.
Congratulations to these two pawmazing ambassadors!
