O-M-D! Josh Hutcherson, better known as Peeta of the “Hunger Games” movie, has just adopted an injured Pit Bull!
According to PEOPLEPets.com, the 19-year-old actor adopted a 3-month-old Pittie that he later named Driver. Hutcherson’s Facebook page announced the news and added: “Thanks to Josh, he now has a full stomach, warm bed and a loving owner.”
The Hands Paws Hearts rescue group pulled Driver out of a municipal Los Angeles County shelter. Driver has two missing toes and had been dropped off as a stray.
Adoption Coordinator Sasha Rose told PEOPLEPets.com, “He sat in the shelter for 11 days with a broken leg, and the injury was already about a month old. He’d been sitting in a great deal of pain.”
The same day Rose went to pick up Driver from the shelter, Hutcherson called looking for a Pit Bull rescue and was able to meet Driver before he went into surgery.
“Josh is very, very happy,” Rose said, adding that Driver is “very active and playful. He doesn’t complain. He’s a really nice dog.”
Hutcherson has been posting pictures of him and his new Pittie on Instagram (@iamjoshhutcherson). We don’t know about you, but after seeing him adopt a 3-month-old injured Pit Bull, we’re totally team Peeta!
