In the midst of primetime talent shows, “America’s Got Talent” is seemingly the only program which allows non-singers to compete for the chance to win a big-ticket grand prize. This season ended last Friday night and the winning title went to the dogs … literally.
According to the Daily Mail, the celebrity judging panel comprised of Sharon Osbourne, Howard Stern and Howie Mandel were speechless when the Olate Dogs act was announced the winner. The father-son training duo and their active dogs won $1 million and a headlining show in Las Vegas.
Olate Dogs were the first animal act to make it to the finals, and of course, the first to be crowned a winner. During the finale show, the Olate Dogs showed off their talent for dancing on their hind legs and performing a couple agility tricks, such as jumping over obstacles.
Richard Olate, the elder family member, has been training dogs for 44 years. Osbourne, who is an avid dog lover herself, joked she wanted to keep one of the dogs. “This is just pure love on stage,” she said.
On the overseas version of the show, “Britain’s Got Talent,” the winning act also went to the dogs when Ashleigh Butler and her dog, Pudsey, won.
