Default Doggy names

Max and Molly may be a couple of the most popular doggy names, but what about more unusual or unique dog names? Is your dog the only dog in the park with his name? How did you come up with it? What was your inspiration?

Maybe your dog's name has a very special story behind it, or maybe it just suits your dog's personality perfectly. Do share your stories!

And if you're looking for a great name for your new pup, browse the entries and you just might find an idea!

Default Keisha the Keeshond

When I was a teenager, we had a Keeshond, and it was a girl, so we called her Keisha. Perhaps not that original, because there was another Keeshond in the neighborhood also called Keisha!

My dog's name is Sheba. I got her when she was 3 years old and that was the name already given to her. That is a good name for her. She thinks she is Queen Sheba like in the Bible.

Default Dog names

My dogs are Corky (the cocker spaniel )---nicknames include corker porker, cork, corker, puppy bugger among others!-----the other dog is Max but usually only gets called that when he is catching "heck" from me. His nicknames are Paxy (have no idea why!), Paxer, honeybunner. Actually Corky is a combo of cocker spaniel and golden retreiver---the golden retreiver is a guess but fairly accurate I think! And Max is the purebred cocker spaniel. Corky was named via a questioaire I sent around in my workplace asking my coworkers to help me come up w/a good name. Some other dogs in the neighborhood include--a couple of afghans--black one is called Indy and the other (and appropriate for color also) is named Mocha. Another neighbor has a brown lab called Moon.

Talking We Have Three Dogs

When we were first married, we adopted a 6 month old puppy and called her Pokie. A year after she died, we adopted an American eskimo/German Shepherd mix and called her Cuddles because that is something she loved to do... snuggle up into your neck.

Our next dog we rescued from the pound was a four year old named Binx! She is part Australian Shepherd and blue heeler.

The last one we got from a shelter is standard poodle and McNab mix... and she came with the name Becky.

We have three dogs living with us. The youngest is the biggest and Cuddles is the grumpiest. But she is after all 14 1/2 years old!!! Binx is daddy's girl but is becoming a real sweetie. She is only 12 and thinks she is the Guard dog. She has a lot of energy for an old girl.
