AKC-registered Old English Sheepdogs have dropped from a peak of 16,000 in 1975 to just 1,000 or so this year. Is this breed going the way of the dodo bird?
Labs, German Shepherds and Beagles were among the most popular U.S. dog breeds of 2011.
Along with Surf Dog Ricochet, last year’s winner was Wyatt, a 2 year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback, who works as a service dog with his owner/handler, Janice Wolfe.

Four show dogs stolen along with a van were all found safe last week. Two went on to do well at the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship.
